About the Other Holidays and Parties category:
Throughout the School Year, there are many Holidays and reasons to Celebrate together as a Class, such as St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Class Birthdays. Taking time to give recognition to and create Lesson Plans around these Special Days helps create a positive Learning Environment and also brings additional opportunities to Teach your Students unique Lessons. You probably won’t encounter a Student that doesn’t know what one Holiday or the other is, but there is always more to Learn than just the basics.
At the Preschool, Kindergarten, and Elementary School levels, Celebrating a child’s Birthday can help encourage positive Relationships among Classmates and help each Child with their Development of Self Esteem and Identity. Use the Heart Balloons or other Valentines Day props from School Costumes to create the perfect atmosphere for Children to distribute Valentines to one another, each one displaying a compliment or other nice words about their Peers. Dress Up in a Leprechaun Costume on St. Patricks Day to lead the class in a Scavenger Hunt for a Pot Of Gold (or candy) with Mathematical or other Educational clues.
As a student enters Middle School or High School, challenge him or her to consider the History of each holiday. A student Presentation about such a topic done in Costume can help all of the Kids in class consider how and why symbols like Cupid and Leprechauns came to be tied to these holidays.
Don’t underestimate the value to a well-rounded Education that Holiday Costumes can have when used in conjunction with your Curriculum.
